Coast Watch Society Supports
The Blanchard
Mountain Project
Blanchard Mountain is truly one of the most spectacular recreational gems
left in Western Washington. Nestled between I-5 and Chuckanut drive in
Skagit County, Blanchard Mountain is one of the few, best places, left in
the Pacific Northwest. Its recreational use is wide and varied. On any given
day it is not unusual to come across hikers, mountain bikers, horse riders
and even hang gliders on the Mountain. The views are unmatched and
attract more than 50,000 people a year! On a clear day you can see
all the way to Vancouver Island to the west and Mount Baker and the Twin
Sisters to the east.
Blanchard Mountain is managed by the Washington State Department of Natural
Resources and is slated for logging in the near future. We feel Blanchard Mountain would serve the community better
if its managed for its recreational and "nature" opportunities. We have a plan
that would not diminish the small logging revenues that would go to
the local community if Blanchard Mountain is preserved.
Please go the the Blanchard Mountain Project web page for more
information on the project.

Coast Watch Society is accepting donations for the
Blanchard Mountain project.
Please
send us an
email or call us
for more information. Or if you want to write us a check please send it to
the address below. Make it out to Coast Watch Society and send a note
letting us know you want the donation used for the
Blanchard Mountain
Project.
At this time all Coast Watch Society
members are non-paid volunteers
All donations will be used to educate the public, Skagit
County officials and
Washington State legislators. Most citizens have stated that they would like to see Blanchard
Mountain become a park possibly connected to and managed with Larrabee
State Park. Once it is a park we would like to see all the current,
low impact,
Blanchard Mountain user groups continue to use this wonderful place
for recreational purposes. (Hikers, mountain bikers, hang gliders,
horse riders, and wild life watchers.)
Your donation will
help make a difference.
Thank you. |
